Weather

At any time of the year, the Baviaanskloof always has something to offer the visitor.

While the summer months can get hot, the days are longer .Early morning and late afternoons are the perfect times for activities with plenty of time in the rest of the day for afternoon naps in the cool guest house and refreshing swims. Summer is also the perfect time for hiking the Cedar Trail up the Waterkloof to the magnificent waterfalls, as the sun is sufficiently overhead enough to reach into the narrow gorges.

Although winter in the Baviaanskloof can be wet and cold, and the days shorter, there are many sparkling clear winter days where the sun shines and t-shirts can be worn – perfect for day hikes and mountain biking. The Cedar guesthouse is a real treat on a winter’s day with a fire and snow on the mountains outside.

Autumn and spring offer mild and more pleasant weather.

Rain can be experienced at any time of the year. And there is nothing more spectacular than watching a karoo storm move up the valley with thunder and lightning reverberating off the cliffs around you.
