| Cedar Tourism is committed to conservation and biodiversity management, and this includes the way we build. We have spent the past years renovating and upgrading buildings on the farm and Linden has become Master Builder of note! With a team of local workers they are creating masterpieces on the farm out of cob (mud, straw and clay mix), straw bales and stones.
The meditation room was an experiment with different building materials from the old wattle and daub, straw bales, stone gabion and cob walls. It has been called the Hobbit sanctuary and it does look a little hobbitish with its sloping roof and smiling windows.
The lovely old high roofed building that is Jeanne and Linden’s private home used to be the old cow barn on the farm, a 100yr old building with cobble and old yellow wood floors and thick stone walls. It is a treat. ![]() Baviaanskloof Accommodation with Cedar Tourism Wander down to the Cob cottage in the valley and ask Willem and Marta to show you around this magnificent cottage built with much love and laughter in 2008.
![]() Camping Chalets
The 3 camping chalets on the field below the farmhouse are a fabulous addition to our accommodation options with the new boma on the old slab where the shed once stood as a fitting braai and relaxing area. Complete with cob bread oven it is a treat and testament to what can be created with a lot of mud and imagination.
The Baviaans Craft Shop, a 15 minute drive down the kloof, was our latest building, and a real artistic work of love. |
