| This romantic getaway is situated where two valleys meet, embraced by deep red cliffs and touched by morning sunlight. The cottage was built in the late 1800s, and was the welcome “refuge” for Italian prisoners of war in the early 1940s. Its delicious charm lies in its simplicity – a bedroom, kitchen and bathroom built of stone and clay.
The Just-for-Two has been delicately renovated with the utmost respect for the beauty of the simple life and the warmth and history of the original earthy building materials. The cottage is fully equipped with gas appliances and cooking equipment, with a braai area outside. There is no power, with paraffin lamps for night light. The bath and shower are open to the sky, providing an unforgettable experience under the stars. The flush toilet is strategically placed apart to give you a beautiful view up the kloof. The cottage is also located within three quarters of an hour’s walk from magnificent bushmen paintings, and a ten minute walk from the Labyrinth.
This remains our favourite place for romantic getaways, with wide open spaces, red cliffs, endless beauty and a warm and cosy nest at the end of the day.
For those staying in the Just-for-two, and wanting food prepared, Marta’s Restaurant is only 500 meters away. Prior booking for the meals is required. (See the section on Marta’s Restaurant under the accommodation page for more details.)
Please note that as we are in a World Heritage Site, we are not able to accommodate pets.
