Visitors Book

  • We absolutely loved staying at the Cedar Guesthouse. You have a beautiful place out there and it was so wonderful to be so far away from phones and shops and the noise and stresses of daily like. It really felt like a retreat both from and into the world. We read lots and walked and swam in the river and did yoga on the stoep. We had a fire every night and gazed at the stars. Bliss. I have a pretty stressful job at the moment and have returned to work today feeling totally rejuvenated. I only need to close my eyes to be back in the secret gorge and waterfall.  Thanks so much for everything. Wilhem did a great job of looking after us too.

  • Our stay, albeit far too short, was most enjoyable and really very special – I  did write a pretty long ‘epistle’ in the guest book, so am not going to repeat all my words. Instead attached a few of the photos I took.  We definitely hope to be back to your delightful farm. (Aug 2013)

  • We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage! It was soo relaxing and the views were breathtaking! We will definately visit again!  Thanks for the hospitality!

  • Thank you, we had a wonderful stay and loved every minute of it. The cottage was perfect and the setting 'to die for'. We walked to the waterfall (or nearly) as we had to swim to get through the other side of the deep kloof then couldn't face the walk to the end to see the falls in bare feet and swimming costumes - too hot and stones too sharp! But we loved it all and saw so much wildlife.

  • We absolutely loved our stay at the Just for Two Cottage. We've stayed in some amazing places, but we have to say that Just for Two was the best place we've ever visited. Everything was just so thoughtfully laid out and it had the necessary luxuries, but the ideal level of simplicity and we still felt like we were on an adventure. The views from the cottage are truly spectacular! We loved making a fire and braaing at night, LOVED the hike up to the falls - swimming in the crystal clear pools and marvelling at the beauty of the kloof. We loved bathing under the stars and chilling in the somehow amazingly cool cottage during the hot afternoons - almost felt like you were stepping into aircon without the carbon footprint! :-)

We truly had a wonderful, romantic time and loved the feeling of isolation - felt like we were the only two people on the planet. :-)

  • We had a great stay at Cob Cottage.  It was my first visit to the area and was overwhelmed with its beauty and character.  We were fascinated by the history of the Cob Cottage project and the other accommodation.  It must have been some effort to renovate, build and develop in such a remote area.  We also attempted to go to the falls and were a little surprised at the tough 5 hour hike there and back.  Unfortunately it was still quite cold and we stopped short where you have to wade through the river between the cliffs… maybe next time.  We wish you well and thank you for sharing this awesome place with us.

  • My wife and I are always on the look out for a cottage in the mountains. Well Just For Two certainly ticked all the boxes. Absolutely loved the cottage and the countryside. My thoughts kept going back to the history of the place – who lived there originally and what life was like. Even the spade at the braai area was special – made in England but now with an impressive South African handle. I do hope you have no plans to build any accommodation within sight of Just For Two. It is a romantic getaway which takes you back in history and  where one feels at one with nature. Just a pity you are 650 km away from us in Rondebosch but rest assured we will find reason to visit again.

Thank you for the encouragement to support Marta for a meal or two – we did that on Monday evening. Both Willem and Marta do a good job. When we walked the Labyrinth we did think that it is in danger of erosion and becoming a little overgrown but then it also does not need to look like a path at Kirstenbosch. We probably fell short of reaching the waterfall by about 10 or 15 minutes but there will be another time. I must also just compliment you with your communication – the impression we get is that you guys really care about your place and about the client experience.

  • Thank you for a wonderful stay on your farm and the charming Cobb’s Cottage. We were totally revived after just 2 days. The endless space and silence with only the sounds of nature, the invigorating swims under the waterfall, the moving Labyrinth walk  and comfortable bed and bed linen all contributed to us leaving well rested and renewed.

I will certainly recommend your farm to others who seek to experience the Baviaanskloof. All the best on your endeavours ahead.

  • Cob Cottage was above all our expectations – it really blew us away!! – next time we need to spend more time there, 1 night was just not enough!  Willem and Marta had everything 100% under control and all catering requirements were met perfectly – despite Marta’s fathers passing.  The early morning  hike to the “running man” painting was both educational and entertaining – really enjoyed Willems commentary about life in the kloof!

  • We had a wonderful three days in Baviaanskloof staying in Cob Cottage. We really loved the cottage and found it very comfortable and well equipped. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to take any of the walks as the weather was extremely hot while we were there, but I guess that gives us a good excuse to return!!

We really enjoyed our meal cooked by Marta  and also the lovely loaf of bread. Both Marta and Willem were very attentive and made our stay most pleasurable…they are outstanding hosts!

We will be coming back to Baviaanskloof as three days was nowhere near long enough to enjoy all it has to offer and hope to make use of your services again!
